What is there to say.

Bigger, faster, stronger - yeah right. Best Norv Turner team yet? Don't think so!!!

Maybe it was too many injuries to the Chargers, but after watching them play Oakland today, it is obvious that the Chargers are incapable of playing smash mouth football. For the Chargers to get beat down by the Raiders twice this season says it all. A championship team does not lose to the same opponent twice in one season. Saying that, my faith in the Chargers is gone for the year. I don't see how they can make it into the playoffs with 6 losses. I know that there is a month of football left, but a wild card is most likely not coming to the AFC west this year, and there is no reason that it should. There are better teams out there that are more deserving.

Sorry that I have not posted for the last couple of weeks. The Chargers were still losing games and doing it in the same fashion all year long with those mental mistakes. This does not bode well for a team looking for post season glory. Everybody knows what is wrong in San Diego this year. Injuries are making the journey even more difficult & that is what I will concentrate on this week.

The offense is suffering the most injuries, especially in the wide receiving corps. With this being said, there is no reason Phillip Rivers should even be putting up the numbers that he is this season. The Chargers are throwing TD's to people from the practice squad. That is not a good scenario when it comes to playoff time. I hope the Chargers can get healthy by playoff time if they are able to pull out winning the division this year. There will most likely not be any wild card teams coming from the AFC West this year, so win and your in.

I am not going to talk about the game with the Rams. Instead, I would like to take a look at why the Chargers are 2-4. Lets start off with the ownership. Dean Spanos has owned the Chargers for quite a few years and over that time, this is what I have noticed. He is a very wealthy man who seems to care more about his money than his franchise. I say this because of the stadium issues that are going on in San Diego that could cost them an NFL team. Jerry Jones comes to mind about the stadium issue because look what he did in Dallas. I know that Dean Spanos has the money to build the stadium if he wanted to, but he would rather flip the bill to the tax payers. Instead of doing what it takes to build the name of the Chargers by winning Super Bowls, he would rather stare into his bank account and wonder why the Chargers are having blackouts in San Diego. I know the economy is not great, but I think that there are other people out there like me that are tired of having their hearts ripped out of their chest in the post season.

Oh yes! Another year with Norv at the healm and the Chargers start off 2-3 again. How is this even possible? How can a team start off with the same record every year. How do you do it Norv.

Well, being 2-3 sucks (although I am not making a big deal out of it this year). We have been here been here a few times before. The worst regular season of recent memory was the 2008 season when the Chargers won the division with an 8-8 record & would have never made it to the playoffs if not for a monumental meltdown by the hated Broncos. What to do with this team? It seems that they are a broken record. Slow starts to the season every year, a run at the midway point of the year to make you think this team has a chance for the Lombardi Trophy, & finally a heartbreaking playoff loss that are full of penalties and boneheaded plays. I am frustrated with this team and it seems that fans of this team are going to have another year of heartbreak if the trend stays the same as the last 4 years.

Two weeks of football have passed and the Chargers are 1-1. Somewhat disappointing due to the week one loss against the Chiefs. That was a game that I thought the Chargers did not lose, but gave away instead. Does this mean the offense can't play in bad weather? Tough to say being it was only the first week of football. It was not impressive though, I can tell you that much. The beat down on the Jags have done little to rid me of my concerns especially without VJ on the field to stretch the defense. On the positive side, the defense looks better than I suspected it will & I am a firm believer that offense sells tickets, while defense wins championships.

Next week brings on a new upcoming team with the Seahawks. The Chargers just may have to play in bad weather again as the forecast shows that rain is likely. It would be a horrible thing for this team to be so talented and be unable to play in bad weather. I know that will bring down just about any teams game to a point, but the Chargers rely on a high octane offense & may not play there best football when it comes to grinding it out. I am not going to bring up the years of Norv Turner and the infamous slow starts. Each year is unique in itself. This year, the Chargers have a very easy schedule compared to most of the rest of the league. I just hope the Chargers come to play like they are in the playoffs every week instead of playing down to their opponent.
